This is not good news for Game of Thrones fans – the hotly anticipated Season Six launch date has been moved to the back end of 2016 by HBO.

The new season of the epic fantasy series was marked to arrive on April 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PT in the United States and available to watch on Foxtel Play Monday April 25 however the hugely popular TV series has been forced to delay screening due to budget issues.

April Fools Game of Thrones Fans

We hope we didn’t make you throw your laptop in rage! Game of Thrones is one of the most expensive shows ever made on TV and given it’s global popularity there are no budget issues here. Just recently it was reported in Entertainment Weekly that for season six, HBO forked over an average of $10 million per episode!

There will be 10 episodes of the fantasy show this season, which means a cool $100 million was dropped by HBO. And the good news is producers are claiming a large portion of that dough went towards the largest and most epic battle scene that any TV show has ever attempted.

For Australian fans, the season six premier will be available to watch on Foxtel Play Monday April 25 at 11am on the Showcase channel.
